I seriously doubt that some deftly attuned application of political power is any kind of panacea. That said, if political power has a legitimate place in the world, and within America in particular, it can only be made legitimate through accountability. Wherever power is untethered from accountability and consequence, tyranny rules. While our written laws will ever be imperfect, they provide an objective standard to which some of those who wield political power can be held to account. In a democracy, the electoral process is one such mechanism by which this is accomplished. But what of those who wield this power who are not accountable to any voters? What happens when individuals entrusted to wield power in the name of the American people break the very laws they swore to uphold?
Cutting Through the Cryptocracy
Delineating those who wield power over us and their individual responsibility for violations of law in this globe-spanning cryptocracy will be a Herculean task. As daunting as it may be to address this problem, it is a task that must be undertaken. Without restoring a practical nexus between power and accountability, America is doomed. Many will say that we already are, and that people like me who fail to realize this struggle in vain. I, of course, disagree. Struggling for a just cause against overwhelming odds with similarly determined compatriots is one of those wonderful things that makes life worth living. On that note, my friend and brother-in-arms Rob Green recently authored a call for accountability within the Department of Defense (DoD) and Armed Forces generally.1 With its massive budget, status as the country’s single largest government employer, and tendency to break the law while misplacing trillions of taxpayer dollars, it is as good a place as any to get started.
Individual Crimes, Individual Responsibility
The USMIL COVID vaccine mandate was unlawful. Vaccines can be mandated, but they must be FDA approved. The FDA approved versions of Pfizer and Moderna’s MRNA products were never produced or made available to service members. Emergency Use Authorized (EUA) product was provided as a substitute. Perhaps the products really were medically interchangeable. What is not debatable, however, is that they were always legally distinct. How? Well, it is really very straightforward. EUA products can’t be mandated. There is one small exception that the President can authorize EUA products to be mandated for service members, but in this case, the President never provided such authorization.2 When people get together to conspire to do something unlawful, that is called a crime. Individuals are responsible for perpetrating these crimes, some more than others. If they can’t be held to account where there is such an abundance of evidence and some thousands determined to ensure the entire debacle isn’t memory holed, then restoring accountability elsewhere will be that much more difficult. I feel this is an essential place to start for all those who swore an oath to the Constitution and want to retain their honor.
Eating the Elephant
If we’re to reconnect power and accountability we have to start somewhere. It is probably easier to believe nothing can be done, just as it is perhaps easier to think it impossible to eat an elephant than it is to get started one bite at a time. For military service members and veterans it makes sense to seek accountability within the Armed Forces. There is a lot of waste, fraud, and abuse within DoD. So much that one is confronted with decision paralysis when trying to find any one particular issue to pursue. This issue is probably the best place to start. We know the law was willingly violated at echelon. We know there was conspiracy to deprive service members (and civilians) of their constitutional right to religious freedom. We also know that some were permanently injured and killed in the process. The exact scale and scope of the damage will ideally be determined by a study into the risk benefit of these treatments mandated by the 2024 NDAA. Unfortunately, that probably can’t tell us the entire story, for we also know requirements to document vaccinations at time of treatment were circumvented and subverted by overzealous leaders in a hurry to demonstrate their fealty to the politically motivated imperative to vaccinate. Take a look at the letter. Consider signing the petition. We may not be successful in our quest, but I believe those who took an oath to the constitution and meant it are morally obligated to try.
Getting Started
I’ll be exploring more tangible political measures going forward in my role as Secretary on the America’s Veteran Party Substack if you care to follow along with that please subscribe:
For additional background on this open letter feel free to check out this space conducted on X. I may also try to be involved in some spaces extolling the virtues of supporting grassroots veteran candidates also associated with my role with AVP. Finally, I’ll continue with political philosophy oriented posting here if there’s anything I have to express to clear space in my head while finishing another project I’m hoping to complete by early summer. Happy New Year!
We can’t forget the great friends we have among the Coast Guard which falls under the similarly situated Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
That might have allowed for some accountability, which the regime rightly understands must be avoided at all costs if they’re to maintain their power.
There's no punishment too "cruel and unusual" for these criminal clowns! I hope your post and this open letter get shared widely and reach the eyes of good people with real power. As you noted, power without accountability is a cancer that will destroy entire civilizations if not contained quickly, and our civilization is now in stage four of this cancer. But more people are waking up and losing their reluctance to call things out, especially as the symptoms of this cancer grow more obvious and more alarming, so the COVID criminals may get their accountability sooner than later.
Well said. The only quibble is that the DoD is possibly not unparalleled in budget: in 2022 defense spending came in behind Social Security, non-defense discretionary spending, and only a little ahead of Medicare/Medicaid spending (well, ok around 4 billion ahead, but that is <1%, so little but not little :D ). I am totally willing to believe that the accounting is off by a fair bit and there is DoD spending that isn't categorized as defense, but sadly the defense budget is much smaller than Social Security. Imagine how much graft happens over in that realm.
