In 2020 Air Force Colonel Ben Jonsson wrote “Dear White Colonel” applying lessons from Robin DiAngelo’s extraordinarily successful race grift to scolding his professional peers. For those who don’t understand the raison d'etre of complete tools in the military profession, this was a somewhat perplexing move. For those that do, watching a Colonel bend over and spread his cheeks for America’s enemies in order to secure promotion to general officer is an all too familiar, if discomforting, sight to behold.
Head Girls and Leadership
I’ve talked about the Head Girl archetype as described by Bruce Charlton before. Colonel Jonsson, like many senior leaders, fits the profile perfectly. When engaged in their habitual striving amidst a healthy culture, the Head Girl is an asset. Amidst a culture that has become spiritually bankrupt, there is no greater liability. Always sensitive to the cultural zeitgeist, the Head Girl advances the cause of the prevailing culture with peerless efficiency. Put another way, Head Girls are hard-wired to signal high-status, whatever that may be. If warring in the Middle East on vaguely Christian/Neoconservative grounds, the Head Girl will lead bible studies and prayer breakfasts. When warring against an American populace who would dare to elect fascist Orange Man, the Head Girl can be counted on to embrace the regime’s principle tools for counteracting this threat. This includes everything from support of mass censorship to characterizing political opposition as extremist, and of course, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
What Mess?
In the subtitle of this article I assert that we’re in a mess. Many military leaders would have the temerity to deny such a claim. This is kind of like when senior leaders say “I’m not sure what woke means.” Sure… it is difficult to understand why there is a recruiting and retention crisis and why our military’s readiness is in the toilet on every conceivable metric when such realities indict your leadership. Our political leadership has abandoned any semblance of spiritual grounding for painfully obvious grifting at the expense of the American people with very few exceptions. Whoring themselves out to the highest bidding lobbyist while daydreaming of their next rendezvous with high-dollar whores of their own, our politicians are content to twiddle their thumbs as the country burns. Our military leadership simply drinks the water downstream from this rampant degeneracy. Can we really be surprised that they’ve all come down with a raging case of ideological hepatitis?
DEI and Data
Anyone serious about understanding reality1 as it is already knows there isn’t a sound data-driven case to be made for claims of systemic racism or sexism. To make this point I’ll just focus on claims made by Colonel Jonsson in his stunning and brave open letter. After admonishing whites for being defensive in considering institutional racism that they ostensibly benefit from, he indicates George Floyd was murdered. I think the preponderance of the evidence indicates otherwise, but I wouldn’t expect something as trivial as evidence to persuade a Woke Colonel that they’re worshiping a false religion. He then references the death of Rayshard Brooks as evidence that racial tension must be addressed, ignoring that video evidence demonstrates that, while tragic, this was justified self defense. On that note we have to look at the entire predicate for Black Lives Matter that is baked into the name, specifically that blacks are over-represented in unjustified police shootings. This foundational claim and assumption turns out to be unsubstantiated, which we only know thanks to Roland Fryer who’s career at Harvard was imperiled for sharing this conclusion in this landmark paper.
DEI inverts the usual structure of science. It takes observed differences between groups and attributes them to social injustice. When any academic doesn’t play along with the fraud, they are destroyed. Woke Colonels have allowed this cancerous methodology to be applied to the military, and we’re experiencing the predictable results of this folly today. Believe it or not, assuming the worst of people based on race when confronted with the reality of group differences has consequences.
Let the Institution Work
We have systems in place to ensure fair treatment in the military. We have a culture in place that still understands the primacy of competence, standards, and accountability in promoting the orderly function of the complex institution we inhabit, even if those with the most power continually subvert this understanding. Woke Colonel, Sir, I implore you to follow the standards and obey the law. Is that too hard for you Woke Colonel? Will that hold you back on your quest to achieve all four stars? We have an Inspector General’s office and we have a Military Equal Opportunity program. If disparate treatment is occurring and it can be proven, then there is already a process to adjudicate these matters. All we can do is hold one another to the same standard. Like your based colleague tried to tell you, it doesn’t matter what culture we came from, we are all expected to conform to the military culture we all decided to join. What you are doing is destroying that culture. This has implications that extend beyond the military. This culture has always served as the model for pushing back against the entho-narcissism that threatens to eradicate what racial harmony still remains in our once great country.2
The Legacy of Woke Colonel
That you would throw away one of the most noble aspects of American military culture amidst your compulsion to adopt the high status beliefs destroying our country is the great tragedy of the Head Girl. I suppose it is up to the rest of the nation to undertake the Herculean task of reshaping the status landscape if we’re to save the strivers from themselves. That this will require a full circulation of the elites is a sobering thought, because such a circulation can’t occur without strife. Woke Colonel, I assure you that you still serve a valuable function even in this regard. You alienate your most competent subordinates helping them to see the full scale and scope of the twisted ideology you’ve adopted. As they resign in droves and convince all of their loved ones to forego service to ensure they are never forced to serve under racist oath-breakers, they communicate a change is needed to the American people who ultimately hold the power to end the anti-American madness gripping our military. You help tell the story that the USG has broken its covenant with the American people enshrined in our Constitution. I guess what I’m saying is, every good story needs a villain, and there is no better villain in this story than you, Woke Colonel.
To be clear, when I say serious, I mean those who put understanding reality above any other consideration. This includes how certain understandings of things will impact the public, impact your career, or even just how certain positions will make other people feel. In all of these situations motivated reasoning will always prevail, regardless of what the data says, and given the thorough corruption of academia by trait empathisation a little motivated reasoning goes a long way. It is all too easy to find a peer reviewed study with an abstract that affirms the most ridiculous of beliefs, especially those beliefs that rationalize the rule of our current elite.
This is why the military is such a valuable prize for the race grifters. Not only are there contracts to be had and DEI offices to be occupied, lessons learned working alongside people from diverse backgrounds towards a common goal would totally dismantle the race grift if they were to be adopted fully throughout American society.
Well said! This retired infantryman/Warrant Officer concurs 100%!
Great essay, just telling the Truth, what in saner times would have been considered common sense, but which in today's clownworld, is a radical act. And the title is 🔥🔥🔥!
